2025-04-18 –, P1 Workshop
Language: English
In this workshop we take a look at the Robot Operating System (ROS 2). Workshop-participants can control a robot in simulation, either by joystick/keyboard or by providing waypoints for autonomous navigation.
After the basics we will have an exchange about robotics:
Do you have an idea that needs a (mobile) robot? Do you already have one you like to show? Do you like to discuss how robots effect us in the near future?
Bring your own fun projects, all robots are welcome!
ROS has become the standard for robots everywhere. After a short presentation on ROS in general we will create a simple setup for a robot in simulation with all defaults for a nav2-stack for autonomous simulation. We concentrate on the stable versions that are based on Ubuntu 24.04 (for ROS 2 jazzy), this can be in a virtual environment or docker.
The focus of this workshop is to give an overview but also provide exchange with experts as many robotics projects can be very complex to set up. We will not look at long logs of crashing ROS nodes during the workshop.
Afterwards we can play around with our (simulated and real) robots, answer more questions, discuss the future of robotics and exchange stories from robot competitions.
You can send ideas or suggestions on mastodon or as issue on github
